I'm Dr. Sarah Howling, the founder of The Connection Revolution®. I help leaders, teams, and organisations build resilience, have better conversations, and transform conflict to ignite engagement and performance. 

 

Since an early age I've been fascinated with people, language, and learning, and I’ve studied human relationships, psychology, leadership and communication for over twenty years. 

 

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have lived and worked in some amazing places (Bermuda, Spain, Hong Kong, Argentina and Malaysia to name a few) and lead some equally amazing organisations. I’ve been able to experience different cultures and what it takes to become successful in them - further fuelling my curiosity and passion for interpersonal communication. 

 

I’ve led successful change and transformed cultures. I’ve improved results and led award-winning organisations. And I know that at the heart of these transformations are people, relationships, and powerful conversations at every level. 

 

I’m deeply passionate about my work and have poured years of experience and research (and my heart and soul) into The Connection Revolution®.

Everyone deserves to work in an environment in which they can be their best, feel their best, and do their best. I find it incredibly sad (not to mention damaging and costly) that: 

  • On average, only 15% of employees globally are actively engaged at work (Gallup)

  • 85% have dealt with conflict in the past year - from small disagreements and incivility to disputes and dysfunctional teams (CIPD)

  • 75% say the biggest drain on resilience and wellbeing is not workload but managing difficult people and relationships (Bond and Shapiro)

After coaching and developing high performing teams around the world and many years as a senior leader and Principal in some of the world’s best schools, I now run a consultancy, training, and coaching company. 

 

I believe leadership is about people and that if you want more innovation, creativity, productivity,  performance, you have to put people at the centre.

 

I have a track record of leading change and developing coaching cultures with high performing organisations globally and I’m passionate about helping leaders and teams build the resilience, emotional intelligence, and communication skills to ignite engagement and performance.

 

An accomplished speaker, I’ve spoken at international conferences both in person and virtually, delivering keynotes and workshops on coaching, workplace learning, and leadership development. I also teach coaching and difficult conversations at the Institute for Continuing Education at the University of Cambridge.

 

Alongside my many years of experience, I’m insatiably curious, love to learn and enjoy developing my professional expertise.  I have an MBA and a doctorate in Social Science with a focus on resilience, organisational learning, and leadership development, together with qualifications in positive psychology and neuroscience.  I’m also an accredited coach, coach supervisor, and a professional workplace mediator.

 

My unique framework, The Connection Revolution®,  brings together over twenty years of research and practice in leadership, psychology, neuroscience, coaching, and conflict resolution. It enables leaders, teams, and organisations to improve the quality of their conversations, relationships, AND results. 

 

My core values are kindness, excellence, growth, and hope and I live by these in my daily life and in how I partner with my clients. When not working, you can find me enjoying the countryside in North Yorkshire with my husband, son, and two pugs.
